Outreach to Vermont Schools
A key aspect of the VASE mission is to foster a deeper understanding and promote discourse on scientific and technical matters among Vermont's citizens. We are especially interested in promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in Vermont schools, through annual Awards for Outstanding Teaching in Science, and through Small Equipment Grants to teachers and their schools.
VASE Equipment Grants to K-12 Teachers
The VASE Small Equipment Grants program is designed to increase student interest in science by providing opportunities for direct, hands-on activities that enable students to experience the excitement of science and engineering directly. Through this program, VASE offers, on a competitive basis, grants to K-12 teachers in Vermont schools that will enable them to design and develop projects that go beyond standard laboratory experiences. Grants are typically in the $500 - $1000 range. For application information and past recipients, refer to: Small Equipment Grants
VASE Outstanding Teaching in Science (K-12) Awards
VASE recognizes and honors Vermont's outstanding teachers by granting two annual awards to teachers in Vermont who have served as role models for their colleagues and are leaders in the improvement of science education. One award will be given for a teacher of kindergarten through 8th grade and the second for 9th through 12th grade.
Other Partnership Opportunities
Do you need more than a small equipment grant? The VASE membership extends to a variety of Vermont private and academic sectors and thus we may be able to broker connections to serve your needs. If this is the case, please contact us to start a discussion of the program you envision.
